Hey there! - Chris here from Aeva AI Receptionist for Healthcare.
I’m writing this with the same buzz you get when you see a new piece of tech and instantly know, this changes everything.
It’s Friday, my desk is covered in coffee mugs, and my cofounder and I are running call after call through something brand new. Every test we run, we’re grinning at each other like little kids.
Today, a new AI LMM was released by OpenAI: GPT-5.
The intelligence of AI receptionists relies on one thing — AI models. This is the same technology behind ChatGPT, except we train and tune it specifically for healthcare reception calls.
We’re already deep in testing GPT-5 inside Aeva, and the results so far… well, they’re blowing us away.

What these changes mean.
In short: sharper listening, greater intelligence, and more natural conversations.
GPT-5 has made huge leaps in understanding context, picking up subtle cues in speech, and remembering the important details in a conversation without getting lost. That means Aeva will be able to handle more complex patient requests, give more precise answers, and do it all while sounding even more human.
It’s not just about speed or accuracy. It’s about trust. When a patient calls in, they want to feel heard. Every tiny improvement in how Aeva understands tone, pauses, and phrasing makes her feel more like the person on the other end truly gets them. That’s the big win here.
Over the next week, we’ll be putting GPT-5 through its paces with hundreds of live test calls. Once it passes our benchmarks for safety, accuracy, and warmth, we’ll roll it out to you.
This is the fun part of building Aeva. We get to take the world’s best AI tech the day it’s released, push it to its limits, and bring that leap forward straight to your front desk.
Aeva is moving fast. 🚀
If you haven’t noticed, we move fast at Aeva AI. Faster than most people think is possible.
Every week, without fail, something changes in the receptionist. Sometimes it’s obvious like a new voice, a smoother way to confirm an appointment, a quicker handover to a real staff member. Other times, the changes are invisible but just as important such as the AI understanding accents better, or knowing when to ask a clarifying question instead of guessing.
We run Aeva like a living product. She’s not something we “release” and leave alone. She’s in constant training. That means our team is reviewing issues in depth, working out where there is room for improvement and refining every single day.
Most companies do product updates in big releases every few months. We don’t have that luxury. Healthcare is competitive. Patients expect the same level of convenience they get from ordering a coffee or a taxi. If we’re not improving every week, we’re falling behind.
So we’ve built Aeva in a way that allows us to move at that speed. Every Friday we review the week’s improvements, push out updates, and by Monday morning our clients are running a better receptionist than they had the week before. That rhythm is what keeps Aeva at the top with the fastest response times, most natural voice, most accurate understanding of patient needs.
That’s why, when something like GPT-5 drops, we don’t just admire it from afar. We get it into our test environment that day. We run it through hundreds of real scenarios. We push it until it breaks, fix what needs fixing, and only then roll it out. That cycle: test, break, fix, improve. Is how Aeva keeps getting smarter, warmer, and more reliable, week after week.
My co-founder said I was crazy 5 months ago.
Louis told me I was crazy. We were setting our sights on a number of clinics we wanted to help by the end of the year, and he thought I was overshooting by a mile.
Now, we’re on track to hit that goal. We’re on pace to help over 1,000 practitioners this year, and hopefully we’ll be able to help even more.
If you’re already with us, you’re a big part of why we’ve made it this far — genuinely, thank you. If you’re not yet, but Aeva sounds like something that could make a difference for your practice, or you know someone using Cliniko who might benefit. Sharing our story could be the thing that helps us reach (and maybe even pass) that “crazy” goal.
Keep innovating 💪,
